A Tribute to Oma
A Tribute to Oma
My beloved Oma in Medan passed away this morning in her sleep. It is so sad to take in that I couldn’t bring her to her final resting place due to my load of works this week at the office and the fact that I can’t take sudden long leave to go to Medan.
Although I wasn’t too close to her, since she had like many grandchildren and great grandchildren to recognize (well, in Royal Family, I would have been like hundredth to the throne LOL), I was more attached to her than I’ve ever known. Let’s see….we practically bear the same name (my middle name, actually), and she died a day after my birthday (oh how sad it is to think T_T). It’s like she gave me the time to have a happy birthday (which I did though), then she finally could say goodbye….T_T
It is a regret that I didn’t know her that well, however, I will always remember her as a beautiful, religious and funny person, even at her old age. She liked to chew betel which explains why she had very good teeth. She hung photos of her offsprings, from childhood photos, graduation to wedding photos. What sadden the most was the fact that she bore 12 children and had to watch few of them gone before she did….(including my Ma)
My memory of her is short, yet my love for my grandmother is countless…
Farewell, Oma, Unyang…..May you rest in peace, amen.
